Why Diet Is as Important as Fitness.

Maintaining physical, mental health and well-being requires a balanced diet and regular exercise. A well-balanced diet can help you acquire the calories and nutrients you need to power your everyday activities. Exercise alone will not be adequate to build a healthy body or protect a healthy mind without sufficient diet. In the health and fitness profession, the keywords “fitness foods” and “super foods” are considered synonymous, although there is a variation. Both are beneficial to your health and should be part of your daily diet. Some foods are better for training and increasing muscle growth and while others are better for your immune system.

Why Diet Is as Important as Fitness?

Our eating habits have a significant impact on how we look and feel. Making food as medicine has become a famous trend for enhancing one’s health. The current fitness trend promotes eating healthy foods as a main fitness aim. We grow healthier and happier when healthy eating habits become a way of life. Protein, complex carbs, healthy fats, and unrefined sugars are all essential for our systems. To get a fit and healthy body, you must incorporate good eating and understand what that entails.

A well-balanced diet comprises the following healthy food groups:

  • Vegetables such as leafy greens, starchy vegetables, legumes like beans and peas, red and orange vegetables, and others like eggplant
  • Fruits that include whole fruits, fresh or frozen fruits but not canned ones dipped in syrup
  • Grains such as whole grains and refined grains. For example, oats, brown rice, barley, and buckwheat
  • Protein such as lean meat, chicken, fish, beans, peas, and legumes
  • Dairy products such as low-fat milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, and soy milk.

A variety of meals should be selected from each of the five food groups in a prescribed ratio. Each food group sources provide a similar amount of key micro and macro nutrients to suit the body’s needs.
